An argument may begin with one issue and end in a familiar place: feeling unheard, pulling away, or trying harder to get through to each other. Couples therapy offers space to slow that process down and understand what is happening between you.
Couples therapy at Inner Compass Counseling, for couples in Palm Beach County and throughout Florida, draws on relational and attachment based approaches. We look at recurring patterns, the emotions underneath them, and what each partner needs to feel understood and connected. All sessions are held by telehealth, so you can meet from anywhere in Florida.
Recognizing your relationship’s cycle
One partner might reach for a conversation while the other feels overwhelmed and withdraws. The distance can make the first partner try harder, which can lead to further withdrawal. Your pattern may look different; we begin by understanding it from both perspectives.
We pay attention to the moments where connection breaks down: what each person notices, feels, and does next. Naming the cycle gives us something specific to work with in sessions and in daily life.
The concerns you bring
You may want to address an ongoing difficulty or understand a change in your relationship. Areas we can discuss include:
- Recurring conflict and communication difficulties
- Emotional distance and disconnection
- Trust and relationship repair
- Expressing needs and understanding each other’s responses
What working together can involve
We begin with each partner’s perspective and what you hope will change. In sessions, we explore how to express needs, listen to each other, and approach moments of disconnection. We connect those conversations to concrete shifts you want to make in the relationship.
The work is collaborative. We revisit your goals and make space to discuss what is helping, where you feel stuck, and what needs more attention. You can ask about the approach and how sessions would be structured before deciding to begin.
