A therapy intensive provides longer sessions, with the option to meet on multiple days within the same week. At Inner Compass Counseling, the length and schedule are discussed individually so you understand the format before making a commitment.
My approach to intensives follows the same principles as ongoing therapy: a direct, supportive relationship, attention to your history, and a pace discussed together. Intensive sessions are held by telehealth.
What the additional time is for
Longer sessions create room for preparation, focused therapeutic work, and reflection within a more continuous block of time. We discuss what you want to address and how the session structure could support that work.
The methods we use depend on your needs and readiness. You do not have to choose a particular approach before contacting me. We talk through the possibilities and the reasons for each part of the plan.
Considering whether an intensive fits
If you are living with complex PTSD (CPTSD), dealing with longstanding difficulties, or feel that previous therapy has not brought the change you hoped for, an intensive is one option we can discuss. We consider your current concerns, experience with therapy, readiness, and support.
More time in a session does not establish whether the format is right for you. That decision comes from a conversation about your circumstances and goals. We can also discuss whether regular sessions would fit your needs better.
Preparation and pacing
Before scheduling, we discuss the focus of the work, your questions, and how the time will be organized. During sessions, we stay attentive to your responses and adjust the pace together. Making sense of the experience and considering next steps are part of the conversation.
Scheduling and separate pricing
Intensives are priced differently from standard therapy sessions. The length, schedule, and cost are agreed before you commit. Contact me to ask about availability and whether this format may fit what you are looking for.
